JCDecaux is the number one outdoor advertising company in the world and market leader in Ireland.

Celebrating 50 years in 2014, the JCDecaux Group has pioneered the model of public services in exchange for advertising. JCDecaux’s story began in Beauvais in 1953 when Jean-Claude Decaux, whose family ran a shoe shop, realised the value poster advertising had to his parent’s business. When other local companies wanted him to promote their businesses using posters too, it was inevitable that this young entrepreneur would set up his own company. Posters evolved to billboards and this in turn evolved to the model of public services in exchange for advertising.

The first city to adopt the new public service facility provided by Jean-Claude Decaux was Lyon and in 1964 JCDecaux was formed. JCDecaux is now present in more than 60 countries and over 3,700 cities, with advertising formats reaching over 300 million people on a daily basis.
It is the only global company that is exclusively focused on outdoor advertising. In Ireland, we are the market leader for premium, quality advertising displays including billboards, Metro Formats, Luas, rail, digital advertising and retail locations. Whether it’s a 48 sheet, 96 sheet or railside 6 sheet, we offer massive impact and audience contacts across our entire portfolio.

Irish Industry research, of which JCDecaux Ireland is a founding member, shows our panels deliver consistently high audience numbers, reaching consumers across roadside, retail, travel and transport environments.
Consumers are spending more and more time out of home and during this time they are more connected than ever through the increasing use of mobile devices, making the link between outdoor advertising and online activity even more relevant. Our ability to offer advertisers innovative advertising platforms and campaigns stems from our international expertise in this area. With dedicated JCDecaux Innovate departments in 50 countries worldwide, including Ireland, adding magical touches to a JCDecaux outdoor campaign can create lasting memories for consumers.

Throughout our business in Ireland, we are focused on quality. We were the first media owner in Ireland to gain ISO accreditation across three standards: quality, health and safety and environment.
Cognisant of the impact business has on the environment, JCDecaux pioneered the development of advertising and street furniture that was eco-friendly.
In 2003, Vienna was the first city to introduce a bike share rental scheme.
In 2009 we launched dublinbikes, the first public bike share rental scheme in Ireland. dublinbikes has continued to be one of the most successful bike share rental schemes worldwide since launch and due to this success, it is currently under expansion, bringing more bikes and stations to Dubliners and visitors to the city. JCDecaux bike share rental schemes are now present in 69 cities in 10 countries across the globe.
From Australia to Portugal, there are 47,000 self-service bicycles and over 350 million bike rentals since the launch of the first scheme in 2003.

Becoming a patron of the Ireland France Chamber of Commerce is important to JCDecaux. Our heritage inextricably links us to France, where our headquarters are based and much of the product development and innovation in our business comes from France.
Patronage of the Chamber strengthens the commercial link between Ireland and France and our commitment to this.
