FICC Members Visit BnM: Industrial Transformation in Action
The France Ireland Chamber of Commerce was delighted to bring members to Offaly for a fascinating day exploring industrial transformation, renewable energy and land rehabilitation with BnM.
The visit began at Edenderry Power Station, where members had the opportunity to explore the site and learn more about its evolution as part of BnM’s transition away from peat. From the roof of the plant, the group also enjoyed an impressive view of the co-located wind turbines and Battery Energy Storage System, providing a powerful illustration of how renewable generation and energy storage can work together.
The group then travelled to Lough Boora Discovery Park, discovering another important dimension of BnM’s transformation: the rehabilitation of former industrial peatlands and their transition into thriving natural, recreational and community spaces.

This event was organised as part of the activities of the FICC Climate Response Working Group, whose members helped shape, coordinate and facilitate this engaging programme, providing FICC members with the opportunity to explore Ireland’s energy transition first-hand.
