Ireland Ocean Racing (IOR) inspires and engages Irish sailors into the world of professional offshore sailing. By promoting Ireland on the global offshore racing map, IOR will be a key driver in developing its maritime economy. Building on the country’s strategic location and renowned maritime history, IOR will create a clear pathway to deliver future champions.
IOR’s first project is a new yacht racing team skippered by leading Irish sailor Nicholas O’Leary. Nicholas aims to compete at the highest level in the 2020 Vendée Globe event – the world’s only solo, non-stop and unassisted round the world sailing race.
