Working with Business in the Community Ireland Veolia has captured the positive impact our teams have on their local communities. We are very proud of the engagement we have, through a combination of volunteering, fund raising, donations and in-kind donations, with the areas we work and live in.

Our local teams have helped and supported community groups, schools, sports clubs, charities, animal welfare groups and specialist healthcare services throughout 2018. Together we:

  • Volunteered for 575 hours
  • Donated €16,948 through our Veolia Connect programme
  • Raised €8,028 in employee fundraising
  • Donated €8,240 through in-kind donation

"Business in the Community Ireland has revealed the positive impact made across Ireland by member companies in 2018. We in Veolia are proud to be part of the Business Impact Map and celebrate the difference our local teams have made to the charities we support."
Sinead Patton - Chief Financial and Commercial Officer

Business in the Community Ireland (BITCI) has identified that 60 top companies in Ireland, including Veolia, have contributed over €30 million to charities and community groups last year while employees racked up 264,735 volunteer hours. The data is featured on an online ‘Business Impact Map’ which gives a breakdown of how these companies and their employees supported local community groups and charities during 2018.

“Employees want to work for companies that encourage volunteering as part of everyday business and crucially want to work where their values align with their employer. Companies understand the critical value of engaging in tackling social issues; it is a fundamental sustainability challenge. Employee engagement is a critical tool to attract and retain the best talent as employees now expect their employers to have a community strategy in place as standard”.

Tomás Sercovich - Business in the Community Ireland Chief Executive
