WG Infrastructure Launch - Ireland’s Infrastructure: From Challenge to Delivery

The France Ireland Chamber of Commerce recently launched its Infrastructure Working Group, bringing together over 30 stakeholders from across industry, policy, and international organisations to support the delivery of Ireland’s infrastructure agenda. The session featured a keynote address from Sean O'Driscoll, Chairman of the Accelerating Infrastructure Taskforce, who provided a detailed overview of the current landscape and the shift underway.
The discussion highlighted a clear transition from recognising long-standing infrastructure challenges to driving coordinated, accountable delivery. With a focus on energy, water, and transport, there was strong alignment on the need to accelerate progress and enable the infrastructure required to support housing, economic growth, and continued investment.
Key themes included:
- A move from reports and recommendations to time-bound, government-approved action plans
- The importance of multi-year funding to support long-term infrastructure delivery
- The need for greater coordination across utilities, government departments, and industry
- Early signs of increased confidence and momentum across both public and private sectors
- The critical role of execution, capacity, and investor confidence in delivering at scale
The recently published infrastructure action plan was highlighted as a significant step forward, providing a clear framework with defined actions, accountability, and funding commitments.
Supported by a dedicated steering committee representing industry, legal, and international expertise, the Infrastructure Working Group will play an active role in maintaining momentum, fostering collaboration, and contributing to the successful delivery of Ireland’s infrastructure priorities.
