The France Ireland Chamber of Commerce (FICC) is pleased to invite members and guests to an exclusive Business Lunch focused on the Economic Outlook for Ireland. This event will bring together business leaders and professionals for insightful discussion, networking, and analysis of the key economic trends shaping the year ahead.

Taking place at the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel Dublin, the lunch will feature a keynote address from leading economist Alan Barrett, who will share his perspectives on the current state of the Irish economy and the factors influencing its future direction.

In his keynote speech, “The Economic Outlook,” Professor Barrett will review recent developments in the Irish economy and provide an assessment of likely trends over the coming year.

The discussion will explore both internal and external drivers shaping economic performance, as well as the policy challenges facing Ireland in an evolving global environment. Attendees will gain valuable insights into economic growth prospects, risks, and opportunities relevant to businesses operating in Ireland and internationally.


Speaker Biography – Professor Alan Barrett

Alan Barrett is a Research Professor at the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI), where he served as CEO from 2015 to 2025.

He is a member of the Royal Irish Academy and an Honorary Fellow of the Society of Actuaries in Ireland. He also serves as Adjunct Professor in the Department of Economics at Trinity College Dublin.

Professor Barrett has held several influential advisory roles, including membership of the Irish Fiscal Advisory Council from 2011 to 2015 and the Climate Change Advisory Council from 2015 to 2021. He chaired Ireland’s National Economic Dialogue between 2015 and 2022.

He currently serves as a member of the Northern Ireland Fiscal Council, chair of the Commission on Care for Older People, and chair of the National Competitiveness and Productivity Council.

A respected voice on economic issues, Professor Barrett frequently contributes to radio and television discussions and has been quoted in major international publications including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Economist.
