FICC Patron Schneider Electric celebrates 25 years of excellence and innovation in Galway

Schneider Electric is celebrating its 25th anniversary at its Irish location, based at the Ballybrit East Business Park.

The anniversary marks an important milestone in Schneider Electric’s journey of contributing to the Irish community and bringing STEM roles into the local Galway area.

The Schneider Electric Galway facility first opened in 1994 and was initially focused on manufacturing high-volume electronic products, but since then the business has transitioned from a tactical to a more strategic role. Schneider Electric currently supports 227 jobs in the Galway area, representing 25 different nationalities on site. A wide variety of career opportunities are supported in the Galway facility, in areas such as Finance, Order Management, Supply Chain, R&D , HR, Legal  Analytics etc.

The site continues to invest in young talent, having taken on 15 new hires this year. Both innovative new starters and employees marking 25 years' service to Schneider Electric will be celebrated this year through the Green & Silver Awards, to be presented later this month.

The facilities focus on research, development and the fulfilment of solutions to make data centres, factories and power grids more efficient and sustainable, which are implemented across the globe. These solutions are also implemented locally in the facilities of some of Ireland’s largest industrial and economic players.

As part of a program to consolidate its existing data centres into a smaller number of high-density, power-efficient facilities, Ireland’s largest telecommunications service provider eir, formally known as Eircom, selected Schneider Electric and its Irish partner E-TEC to provide an advanced modular cooling solution for a key installation following a competitive tender.

Kelly Becker, Country President in Ireland at Schneider Electric said: “In Ireland, our R&D facilities support our customers worldwide in bringing increased efficiency, connectivity and sustainability to a wide range of industries. We strive to look for further opportunities where the facility can help businesses become more sustainable, while maintaining reliable power supply which enables them to look after their customers. We are excited to see how Schneider Electric Ireland evolves and continues this journey of growth and innovative thinking in the years to come.”
