Offshore sailing skipper Tom Dolan, known in the French Press as the “Flying Irishman”, has been going from strength to strength since he started racing professionally in 2016. That very same year he won 2 out of 3 singlehanded races becoming the first Irish person to win a singlehanded offshore race in France. Last year he came fourth in the French Offshore Sailing Championship rankings, again a best ever Irish result.
He competed in the 3600 mile AG2R La Mondial Transatlantic race in May 2018, winning the rookie class and finishing in 11th place over all. Here is a short video for you to enjoy of Tom’s boat “Smurfit Kappa -Cerfrance” in the AG2R Transatlantic race.
This year he moves up to the big league and will be competing in the Solitaire du Figaro, known as one of the most difficult offshore competitions in the sport.
