Bastille Day in Portarlington
In 1694 five hundred Huguenot settlers arrived in Portarlington, fine dwellings were constructed and a church was built and the town as we know it today began to take form. The French Church and many buildings from that time are still in use with French family names still evident in the area.
Each year the town celebrates its heritage, is decked in blue, white and red, the streets become a market and are full of people with music and laughter filling the air as we celebrate with a Joie de vivre our history!
